Intermittent API failures affecting Sprites users have been resolved after multi-region investigation.

By The Downtime ยท Sep 30, 2026 ยท 3:15 PM

Fly.io has resolved a major outage affecting its Sprites API. The incident impacted users attempting to create, connect to, or manage Sprites, with errors initially concentrated near the SJC region before spreading to other areas.

Fly.io provides cloud infrastructure and app deployment services used by developers and organizations to run applications across multiple global regions.

The outage began with intermittent API failures for users connecting near SJC. Engineers identified the issue and deployed initial mitigations, discovering the problem had expanded to additional regions. A second potential fix was deployed and monitored, after which Sprites API performance largely recovered. A small number of intermittent errors persisted during final investigation before the incident was fully resolved.

The incident is now closed.
