Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

• Checks you run. The website/host you check, the resulting status, response time, and a screenshot of the public page. These power the public result pages.
• Your IP address. Used transiently for rate-limiting and abuse prevention on free checks. It is not used to build an advertising profile.
• Account details. If you sign up: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password.
• Monitors & alerts. The sites you monitor, their check history, and any alert-channel settings you configure (stored encrypted).
• Billing. Paid plans are processed by Stripe. Card numbers never touch our servers — Stripe handles them directly.

Cookies & Analytics

We use two categories of cookies/storage:

• Strictly necessary. A session cookie and a CSRF token, required to log in and submit forms securely. These are always on and cannot be disabled.
• Analytics (optional, off by default). If — and only if — you click “Accept” on our cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage. Until you accept, no analytics scripts are loaded and no analytics data is sent to anyone. You can decline with “Essential only”, and nothing analytics-related runs.

Your choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage (not a cookie) and you can change it any time by clearing your site data.

Who We Share Data With

We don’t sell your data. We use a small number of processors to run the service:

• Amazon Web Services — hosting, email delivery (SES), screenshot storage (S3/CloudFront), automated image moderation (Rekognition), and SMS alerts (SNS).
• Stripe — subscription payments.
• Google Analytics — aggregate usage analytics, only after you consent.
• Alert providers you choose — e.g. Slack, Discord, Telegram, email, or any service you connect for down/up notifications. Data only flows to channels you set up.

Screenshots & Public Content

When you check a site, we capture a screenshot of that site’s public page. Captures are automatically scanned for adult content; flagged screenshots are blurred and hidden from public listings. Screenshots of sites you don’t own are of publicly accessible pages only.

How Long We Keep It

• Raw check results are pruned after 30 days; only anonymous daily aggregates (latency/uptime) are kept longer for trend charts.
• Screenshots expire after 30 days.
• Account data is kept while your account is active and removed when you delete it.

Your Rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your account data, and withdraw analytics consent at any time. To make a request, email privacy@pingy.io. Depending on where you live (e.g. EEA/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights, including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local authority.

Children

Pingy is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service evolves. We’ll revise the “last updated” date above when we do.
